Assessment of Fellowship Programs in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Philippine General Hospital

Objective. The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions and satisfaction graduates trainees fellowship programs Philippine General Hospital - Department Ophthalmology Visual Sciences (PGH DOVS).Methods. A uniform survey conducted among all ongoing External Disease Cornea, Medical Surgical Vitreo-Retina, Glaucoma, Orbit Oculoplastics, Pediatric Strabismus programs. link emailed participants.Results. Response rate 74%. Majority were clustered in National Capital Region (NCR) (56.4%), Luzon excluding NCR (46.4%). perceived that objectives their program met (60%). Overall, 65.4% fellows assessed training as completely adequate. Strengths identified volume patients, level independence, consultant supervision. Weaknesses lack specialized instruments, inter-department exposures, difficulties conduct research.Conclusion. satisfied with would recommend others despite deficiencies identified. Some weaknesses observed by have been addressed since graduation from program. This is first attempt assess post-residency ophthalmology Philippines.
